Role Summary:

Full Time Regular

We are looking to source for potential future requirement a Welder who would be responsible for the building, welding and dressing of materials and repairing a variety of tools for the company.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, perform visual and in-process inspections in accordance with API and ISO quality specifications

  • Help with diagnosing, troubleshooting and solving welding problems that enhance through put within the work team.

  • Prepare tools for welding jobs including brazing composite rod, nickel silver or silver soldier

  • Weld various products and materials

  • Contribute to the design of specialty tools

  • Assist with the build of washover shoes, mills, Liner Equipment and Casing Exit equipment to specific engineering drawing detail

  • Fabricate fishing tool equipment

  • Ensure compliance with QA and HSE policies and procedures at all time

  • Participate in HSE initiatives

  • Ensure good housekeeping in the work area

  • Other Ad-hoc duties and special projects as required


  • HND qualified or equivalent

  • Certificates in Stick Welding; Flux-Cored Arc Welding; Oxyfuel Welding; MIG And TIG and ASME IX would be beneficial

  • Experience gained of welding a variety of materials and tools, preferably within an oil industry environment

  • Experience gained in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial

  • Experience of oxygen and acetylene welding processes with experience of dressing with hard facing materials plus welding with stick mig and flux core wires would be advantageous

  • Knowledge of different metals, their reactions and abilities

  • Knowledge of appropriate welding processes

Desired Characteristics:

  • Skills in the use of SAP would be beneficial

  • Skills in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including e-mail

  • Communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings

  • Analytical skills

  • Organisation skills

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

  • Ability to identify and apply the appropriate welding procedure, dependant on quality requirements, material spec

  • Ability to undertake the demands of the job with regard to the need for prolonged periods of welding

  • Ability to be flexible in order to accommodate ad-hoc urgent work priorities.
