Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE company, has an opening for a Trade Compliance Specialist in Houston, TX, or other geographic locations, focusing on import and export classification activity for oil and gas equipment. As the only fullstream oil and gas provider, BHGE offers opportunities for qualified people who want to grow in our high performance organization. Under direct supervision of a senior member of the BHGE International Trade Compliance Team, the Trade Compliance Specialist will interface with various product lines to obtain technical product information and apply the information in order to assign accurate classifications using the HTS and CCL. Additionally, the Trade Compliance Specialist will be required to provide assistance with special project, administrative duties, metric reporting and must collaborate with internal logistics, manufacturing, engineering, purchasing and finance to acquire product information, as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct product evaluation to determine HTS and CCL Classification

  • Review, interpret and apply technical data accurately to tasks as assigned

  • Assist in the development of trade compliance policies and procedures, conduct training and audits, to ensure import/export compliance policies and procedures are followed

  • Report accurate metrics

  • Some administrative tasks, as requested

  • Assist with special projects, as requested

  • Collaborate with other team members and internal clients


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3 years of experience in import and export logistics

  • Experience in product classification using the HTS and CCL

  • Experience managing data using MS Excel spreadsheets

  • Experience with SAP, Oracle or other ERPs

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in Oil and Gas Industry and/or Chemical and Allied Industries

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Highly organized with quantitative and analytical attention to detail

  • Track record of collaborative work - able to build relationships

  • Knowledge of import/export trade regulations, Tariff schedule, International Incoterms, Free Trade Agreements, and Import/Export compliance programs
