Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for a Well Planning Team Lead in Houston, TX. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Mentor / coach local well planning team

  • Ensure well plans are reviewed and approved prior to sending to rig site

  • Assist operations review daily survey reports for survey data quality / survey program adherence

  • Liaise with survey management team when necessary

  • Provide well planning support to operations

  • Perform local competency assessments

  • Well planning as required

  • Ensure End of well reports are completed on time.

  • Act as well design process owner

  • Database Management

  • Post well report as per regulatory requirement.

  • Support field personnel when required.


  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree is required.

  • Knowledge of directional and horizontal drilling, wellbore positioning basics

  • Experience in engineering and well plans optimization

  • Advanced PC skills

  • Strong mathematical, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Good communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Attention to details

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Mathematics is preferred

  • Field experience is a plus

  • Experience with 3D drawing tools (AutoCad, GIS, etc.)

  • Competence with well planning software (WellArchitect,Compass,etc)

  • 5 years of experience in well planning to be considered
